Our Blends

Our different rosin blends offer you a precise way to enhance the sound of your instrument. By choosing our Supple or Crisp recipes, or even a Bespoke blend, you can optimise the brightness, clarity, warmth and richness of your sound, and vary the strength of initial attack on the string.

We can create recipes to suit varying playing contexts or repertoire, such as when playing as a concerto soloist, in chamber music or in an orchestra.

Your bespoke rosin will generally last 2-5 years with intensive use.

A warm and softer sound, consistent traction that feels velvety and rich; this recipe maintains a reliably sharp attack on the string.

The supple blend generates a more powerful and focused sound from a softer and lighter bow with less ‘bite’. Supple also enhances the sounds of a deep / warm sounding instrument by making it sound more resonant. Supple can also ‘soften’ an instrument which is too loud, bright or one-dimensional in sound.

What Our Customers Think

A decisive attack, firm traction and crisp sautille; this recipe creates an undeniably forthright sound through a glassier texture.

The crisp blend works well with an instrument with lots of resonance but is a little ‘woolly’ in sound, offering it greater clarity and articulation. Crisp also assists bows or techniques that struggle to achieve a clear and articulate spiccato or sautille. Crisp can also assist small student or cheap instruments, by enhancing their sound to be brighter and sometimes louder; and beginning students find it easier to articulate with crisp.

What Our Customers Think

Personally customised blends:

Have a personally customised rosin recipe made for you to suit your exacting needs. We can further customise your recipe by changing the strength of initial attack, the heaviness of the texture and the level of brightness and warmth. We can also make recipes specific to unusual instrument such as electric and folk instruments.

75% crisp - "This bespoke recipe is the perfect blend for the soloist. It focuses on power, projection and clarity, with a slightly thicker texture that will highlight warm resonances."

75% supple - "If you love the warmth and depth of the supple blend, this recipe gives you added clarity and bite to the thicker texture

5050 - "A perfect mix of both supple and crisp recipes, this rosin recipe will have a balanced texture and sound palette"

Sounds terrific

At first, I thought I could not sense any changes to my sounds, but then, I think it was the second time I applied, the sounds of my viola went so gentle and kind of "round" -- mellow sound. (I guess at first it was mixed with my other rosin I applied before receiving your rosin) I will very much recommend this to my friends. I loved the package and your message card too. Thank you for making this lovely rosin into this world.

a very good rosin

I worth the price and the waiting time. It is really what they say in the description: if you have a soft bow with not so much grip, this rosin enhances the grip, the response of the bow. It allows you to have a deeper and purer sound from the viola. I love it.

Thoroughly excellent

Loving this rosin, both its excellent playability and its shape - so much easier to apply and better protected than the conventional cylindrical lump.

Viola 50/50 Blend

Wow, this rosin firstly smells sooooo good. As you might expect with a 50/50 split, the rosin has a very nice balance and I don't notice it trending towards one type of sound or the other. It sounds wonderful on my viola, which naturally has a bit of a dark sound. Some days she almost sounds like a cello. I feel like if you expect rosin to sound a specific way (IE, like a rosin from another brand) this one is pretty much as I would expect the rosin to sound. In the future I plan to get the types as 100% of each, so I can really pull out specific types of sounds. Very nice rosin - worth the money. Would be nice in the future to see package deals where you could buy 3, 4, 5 etc. and get a slight discount. Would buy a lot more that way as I am incentivized by discounts... Thanks again for the great product. :)
